Joomla Instant Page provides a simple yet powerful way to significantly improve your website's loading speed and user experience. Instant Page prefetches menu items, blog posts, or any linked content before a user clicks on them, creating a seamless and lightning-fast browsing experience.

Benefits of Instant Page:

  • Improved User Experience: Faster loading pages keep visitors engaged and coming back for more.
  • Reduced Server Load: Less server processing power is needed to deliver cached content, improving overall website performance.
  • SEO Friendly: Faster loading speeds contribute to better search engine rankings.

Getting Started:

  1. Installation: Install the Instant Page plugin through the Joomla! Extensions Manager.
  2. Activation: Once installed, activate the plugin through the Extensions > Plugins menu.

Configuration

Enable Cache Header (Production Only):

This is the most important setting for Instant Page!

  • What it does: This option enables caching on the user's browser. When a user visits a page, Instant Page prefetches the linked content and stores it temporarily on the user's computer. Subsequent visits to the same page or linked content will load instantly from the cached version on their browser, bypassing the need to download everything from the server again.
  • Why it's important: Without this enabled, Instant Page will not significantly improve loading speeds.
  • Important Note: Enabling caching is crucial in production environments (live websites). However, cached content stored on the user's browser might become outdated if the website content changes.

Exclude Menu Items:

This section allows you to exclude specific menu items from being cached by Instant Page. This is useful for pages that require dynamic content, such as login pages, shopping carts, or dashboards. Simply select the menu items you want to exclude from the list.

How to Clean Cache:

  1. Joomla Cache:
  • Go to Joomla! System > Maintenance > Clear Cache.
  • Select "Clear All Cache" and confirm.
  1. Browser Hard Reload:
  • Windows/Linux: Hold down the "Ctrl" key and click the "Refresh" button on your browser.
  • Mac: Hold down the "Command" and "Shift" keys and click the "Refresh" button on your browser.

Enjoy.
