Getting Started

Introduction

So you’ve downloaded Freemium and you are dying to get it up and running on your website?

Presuming that you have already installed and configured your Joomla! installation, if not we have a tutorial guiding you through the installation of Joomla! on your domain. Check our getting started guide as a preparation for working with this template.

Fresh Installation

Installing a ThemeXpert template is not much of a different from installing any other Joomla template.

Remember you will need to set up your template options afterwards to have it functioning like our demo.

There are two ways to install a ThemeXpert template on your website. Both methods are explained on our fresh installation guideline.

Complimentary Extensions:

  1. Expose Framework library(Joomla1.7) or plugin(Joomla1.5)
  2. Install the template and set to default.
  3. Install Xpert Scroller module.
  4. Install Xpert Captions module.

Optional:

  1. K2 for Joomla1.5

How To

Important: Please have a thorough reading of the Expose Framework and familiarise yourself with using the framework and it’s various features. It will help you when you will go for the theme.

Setting up the homepage

After activating Freemium without any doubt you will notice that your homepage looks little bleaky. This section will explain how to populate your homepage with content.

The screenshot below shows you the modules we have published on the homepage of the demo site. Please see the explanation below regarding the usage and any other relevant information of the modules.

Explain:

  1. Logo: This is a custom HTML module published to header-1 module position using module class suffix: logo nostyle. Write this below code on your editor(remove the / from href) otherwise your logo won’t appear, {code}Freemium{/code} Make sure you turn off the editor to no-editor mode from Global Configuration.
  2. Menu: The menu is rendered via the core Joomla menu module, and the menu options are controlled via the template. This menu is using module class suffix: tx-menu
  3. Slideshow: Xpert Scroller module is published in top-1. You can see a screenshot of the specific configuration below.
  4. Xpert Captions: Xpert Captions module published in main-top-1 position. You can see a screenshot of the specific configuration below.

Layout Tweaking

Expose Framework gives you extreme flexibility in terms off overriding and tweaking, and which will help you to create unique layouts. Please check our details layout override guide for expose framework.
